Taciturn

‘Deafness is not the opposite of hearing – it is a silence full of sound.’

’Taciturn' follows the perspectives of three young people; an emphatic boy who can hear, a revolutionary boy with damaged hearing and a girl who cannot hear and will not speak.

It explores the complex life of young deaf people in modern society and just how limiting and liberating being deaf can be.

Black Jack Theatre invites audiences to witness the love, resentment and kinship shared by these characters and ultimately ask themselves just who is the more deprived; those who cannot hear or those will not listen.
